Meet Kirutma: a focused canvas for vector design

Kirutma is a free vector design app for macOS and the browser — built for people who want a calm, capable editor without subscriptions or accounts.

Modern design tools are powerful, but they have grown heavy. Many require accounts, constant connectivity, and monthly fees just to open a file. Kirutma takes a different path: a professional vector canvas that respects your time, your privacy, and your machine.

What is Kirutma?

Kirutma is a vector design application for creating frames, shapes, text, and illustrations on an infinite canvas. You can use it in your browser at kirutma.com/app or download the native macOS app. Files are saved locally — no cloud upload required.

The interface follows conventions designers already know: a layers panel on the left, properties on the right, a tool bar across the top, and a dark canvas that keeps focus on your work.

Who is it for?

Core features

Infinite canvas

Pan and zoom without boundaries. Place multiple frames on the same document, zoom into details, or step back to see an entire product flow — all on one surface.

Vector shapes and pen tool

Draw rectangles, ellipses, stars, polygons, and freeform paths with the pen and brush tools. Every element is resolution-independent, so exports stay sharp at any size.

Frames and layout

Define fixed-size frames for desktop, mobile, or slide dimensions. Snap guides and an optional pixel grid help you align elements with precision.

Typography

Add text layers with control over font family, weight, size, line height, and alignment. Edit copy directly on the canvas — no separate text mode required.

Layers, pages, and components

Organise complex documents with a structured layers panel, multiple pages per file, grouping, and reusable components for repeated UI patterns.

Effects and styles

Apply fills, strokes, shadows, and blur to any shape. Copy and paste properties between objects to keep visual language consistent across a design.

Export and presentation

Export selections to PNG, SVG, or PDF. Present frames in fullscreen presentation mode — useful for walkthroughs, reviews, and demos.

Asset library

Insert icons and symbols from a built-in library directly onto the canvas, speeding up common UI and diagram work.

Browser or native?

Both versions share the same design language and file format. The browser editor is ideal for quick access from any machine — open a tab and start designing. The macOS app offers native performance and offline access with files stored on your disk.

Free, with no catch

Kirutma does not require an account, subscription, or credit card. There are no usage limits on the canvas, no watermarks on exports, and no telemetry tracking your designs. It is free because design tooling should be accessible.

What's next

Kirutma is actively developed. Feature requests and bug reports are welcome on GitHub. If you have ideas for what a focused design tool should do next, we want to hear them.
